Around ten schools in San Diego will be getting netbook with built in 3G modem to access Internet at home and school. So why 3G netbooks and not non-3G netbooks? Well, it is being reported that 1/3 rd of the San Diego does not even have Internet access at home or at school. Netbooks revolution occurred in San Diego about two years ago. Innovation Middle School’s students have been using netbook for two years and Harlan Klein who is the principal of the school is impressed with the netbook’s capabilities as it allowed the students to do more beyond the classroom.
Working on netbooks has allowed the students to email their work to the teacher directly. Interestingly, they are finding typing on the netbook easier than writing the same thing on paper. [via kpbs.org]
